Margo Lydon

Executive Officer (B.Bus)
SuperFriend

As Executive Officer, Margo’s role is to manage the strategic direction and operations of SuperFriend, ensuring that the Foundation works to deliver on its mission of reducing the incidence of suicide and the impact of mental illness on individuals, employers, workplaces, families and friends. She works closely and collaboratively with the industry superannuation funds, group life insurers and mental health organisations participating in SuperFriend.

Margo joined SuperFriend in June 2010, attracted to the Foundation because of its alignment with her personal values and the enormous potential of the Foundation to make a difference in the lives of millions of Australians who are members of industry superannuation funds. She is passionate about ensuring the Foundation’s programs, initiatives and activities are all pragmatic, real and best-practice so that the culture in Australian workplaces changes to better support people who have (or have experienced) a mental illness.

Away from work, Margo enjoys ballroom and Latin dancing, a past time that she is passionate about as it keeps her fit and healthy. She is also a keen traveler, loving the exploration of new places, cultures and food. Despite this, her favourite way to relax is sitting on a remote beach in her home state of Queensland.

Being connected to her family is something Margo is also very passionate about and she enjoys having fun at the park with her nieces and, when asked who from history she would like to spend an afternoon with, Margo fondly chooses her grandmother.

Watch Margo talk about R U OK? Day and why it is important.
