Overview
SuperFriend is a nationwide health promotion foundation aimed at promoting and facilitating the best possible mental health and wellbeing of members of industry superannuation funds.
Created by the Industry Funds Forum, an association whose members are the CEOs of twenty-eight of Australia’s largest industry super funds, SuperFriend collaborates with industry funds, group life insurers and the mental health sector to facilitate targeted workplace mental health initiatives for members of these funds.
SuperFriend’s work focuses on the development, promotion and facilitation of information, resources, programs and research about mental health. By improving the understanding of mental health and mental illness in individuals and workplaces, SuperFriend influences the policies and practices that foster mentally healthy, supportive work environments.
The Foundation works closely with its participating industry super funds and group life insurers to build their capacity to better serve their members and employers. This includes training staff in evidence based, best practice approaches for communicating with members who may be affected by mental illness or mental health problems.
By acting as a collaborative conduit for funds, insurers and mental health organisations, SuperFriend is in the unique position to influence positive change in over 650,000 Australian workplaces and therefore reach millions of Australians.
