Overview

SuperFriend is the Industry Funds Forum Mental Health Foundation.

SuperFriend was established as a nationwide initiative aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of industry superannuation fund members, employers and staff. SuperFriend’s mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide and the impact of mental illness on individuals, employers, workplaces, friends and families.

The Industry Funds Forum (IFF) is a non-profit, non-political, incorporated entity whose members are the Chief Executive Officers of twenty-eight of Australia’s largest industry superannuation funds (Industry Funds). These funds include multi-industry and industry-specialist, national and state funds. Currently, 14 of the 28 Industry Funds participate in SuperFriend.

The participating Industry Superannuation Funds of the IFF represent half the Australian working population, so the activities and programs delivered by SuperFriend have tremendous opportunities to significantly influence workplace culture and people’s perceptions, understanding, knowledge and behaviours regarding mental health and wellbeing.

SuperFriend is not a direct provider of Mental Health services. The Foundation’s role is to collaborate and partner with a range of organisations, including recognised mental health service providers, to facilitate the delivery of mental health information, initiatives, programs and referral pathways to assist industry fund members.
