Everyone experiences grief throughout their life, whether it be through the loss of a loved one, a house, a relationship or the after effects of a traumatic event. At any time, one in 10 employees are likely to be affected (McGuinness, 2009).

A compassionate and supportive approach demonstrates that the organisation values its employees, helps build commitment, reduces sick leave, and reduces staff turnover. If left unaddressed, grief can have a major impact on both our personal and working lives.

Fearing saying or doing the wrong thing can be a barrier to colleagues supporting each other during times of loss. SuperFriend’s innovative ‘Managing Bereavement, Grief and Loss’ is an easy-to-use, 20-minute e-learning module that gives employees and employers the skills and confidence to help a colleague during this time. Participants will learn the right and wrong ways to broach what can sometimes be a difficult subject, leading to a healthier, more empowered and resilient workforce.
