Banish the booze in February

Its not too late to join the record number of FebFasters in 2010.

Not only does a break from alcohol give all of us time to re-assess own attitudes to alcohol and the impact on health, it also contributes in helping young people with serious alcohol and drug problems.

With 42 million occasions of binge drinking in our nation each year, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ADCA, Mr David Templeman said today it’s time all Australians took stock of their behaviour and choices concerning alcohol.

“Some four Australians aged 25 years and under die each week due to alcohol-related injuries and 70 are hospitalised – that kind of statistic should shock us into long-term change,” Mr Templeman said.

“We seem to be blind to the harms alcohol causes in our lives and the lives of our families and communities. Taking a break from alcohol altogether should help highlight these issues to us so together we can begin to make healthy choices for our lives, “ he added.

ADCA urges everyone to take part in FebFast as a way of making a difference. Register
